East Anglia has randiest football fans!

Almost a quarter of loved up football fans would rather watch a game than score with their partner a new survey has found.

The OnePoll survey for found 23% of Premiership football fans in committed relationships admitted to passing up sex so they could watch a match.

And a dishonest 24% of the 1,000 supporters surveyed said they had lied to their partner in the past so they could get to see a game.

For many fans obsession with the beautiful game clearly interfered with their love life with 52% admitting they regularly checked their phones for score updates if out on a date when a game was on.

Perhaps surprisingly men were more likely to pass up sex than female football fans with more than a quarter, 27%, saying they had turned down an intimate encounter to watch a game compared to just 18% of women.

Men are also much more likely to tell a lie so they can watch football with almost a third, 32% confessing they had told their partner an untruth so they could avoid a commitment and watch the football instead.

Men were also the biggest culprits when it came to spoiling a date by constantly checking their smartphone for football related news with almost two thirds, 61%, admitting to regularly scanning their screens compared with only 43% of football obsessed women.

Manchester City fans were the most likely to spend dates checking their phones for football related updates with 72% confessing they has ruined a night out with their partner in this way compared to just 22% of Swansea City supporters and randy fans from East Anglia were the least likely to choose football over sex, with 93% of fans willing to give football the boot if their partner wanted a cuddle.

A spokesman for, who commissioned the survey, said: “When Match of the Day comes on the telly on a Saturday night it’s a real battleground in the households of football supporters across the UK.

“Often one partner wants to end their Saturday by getting close to their other half while for many it’s a time to get close to Gary Lineker and catch up on the latest from the Premiership. It must be hard when you love one woman but adore 11 men.”
